Surviving Caramoan
I’ve been there in Caramoan and
it was a very much fun-filled experience together with my family and friends.
Caramoan has been the site
frequented by the reality television show Survivor.
The Survivor rented Caramoan for
25 years, starting from the year 2008 up to 2033. Starting from that year up to the present,
there were already two seasons of US version; two seasons for Serbian version;
three seasons of Israeli version; one season of Bulgarian version and one season
of Swedish version that were filmed all in Caramoan. And the list is getting longer.
The Caramoan Peninsula is one of
the best places here in the Philippines for beach hopping, snorkeling, camping,
trekking and everything that you can think of the outdoors.
In going to Caramoan, we went there
in a night travel via bus from Cubao to SM Naga. From SM Naga, we rode a van going to the port
of Sabang. Then we rode a motorized boat going to the port of Caramoan Guijalo.
From there, we were fetched by the jeepney coming from the rented house
owned by a relative of a friend.
We rented our house for 3,400
per head per day and it was already all in—the meals, the beach hopping and the
boats for beach hopping were already included.
Of course, transportation cost was not included. Air conditioned rooms with free wifi and I
remember every meal was like a feast starting from breakfast up to dinner with
snacks in between. It’s like our rent
was returned to us by the good food plus the enjoyment and beauty of the peninsula. Kudos to the house owners!
In going back to Manila, we
traveled back the same route. Borrowing
the famous quote of General Douglas MacArthur, all I can say is “I shall
return”.
